Job Description

The equipment operator should have basic asphalt knowledge to operate heavy equipment in paving operations. Candidates must have the ability to observe equipment operations and adjust controls to ensure conformance with specified tolerance. Must inspect, clean and maintain equipment or report malfunctions to supervisor. There are several different opportunities in the equipment operator field including but not limited to; Paver Operator, Screed Operator, Transfer Machine Operator, Roller Operator and Broom Tractor Operator.

The Foreman/Superintendent supervises various phases of a road construction or clearing operations such as the maintenance of equipment, employees, and the distribution of product. Responsible for planning, organizing, and coordination of daily activities and work assignments for the team.

Skills needed: Ability to read/interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals; ability to write routine reports and correspondence; ability to effectively speak before groups of customers or employees of organization; ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; ability to problem solve.

Requirements

Minimum 5 years’ experience in civil commercial development, heavy highway construction or related field; BS in Construction Management or Civil Engineering; solid decision making, communication, and problem solving skills; experience in a supervisory/leadership position with strong people skills; knowledge of OSHA standards and quality management systems. Drug testing required. Must have a driver’s license.

Project managers need to have knowledge and experience with engineering plans, project planning, resource scheduling, procurement and general project management principles as well as a knowledge of construction inspection, tests and methods and computer software systems.
